Funeral services for Malcolm McNeil "Mack" Bennett Jr. of Carrollton will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 11,
at Carrollton Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, with Rev. Mike Allday officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery
in North Carrollton, where Rev. Mat Taylor will present a scripture reading. Pallbearers will be Roger Bennett Jr., Johnny
Bennett, McNeil Bennett, Pate Shackelford, James Shackelford, Lee Mattox, Ken Turner, and Frank Peel. Honorary
pallbearers will be Delbert Edwards, AltonTurnipseed, Jerry Johnston, and Bill Gillespie.
Visitation will be Friday, January 10, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home in Winona.
Mr. Bennett, 84, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. He was born in Carrollton on August 20, 1935, to Malcolm McNeil
and Emma Frances Shackelford Bennett. He was a graduate of J. Z. George High School in North Carrollton and
Mississippi State University. Mr. Bennett owned and operated Bennett's Butane Gas Company in Carrollton for many
years. He was a cattleman and landowner and a member and elder of Carrollton Presbyterian Church. In addition, he
was a member of the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, the Mississippi Forestry Commission, and served on the Board
of Directors for the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Mr. Bennett's parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Alford Bennett of Carrollton; two daughters, Mary Allen Bennett of Jackson
and Frances Bennett of Jackson; one son, Malcolm McNeil Bennett III of Vidalia, Louisiana; two brothers, Roger Franklin
Bennett Sr. of Conroe,Texas, and John William Bennett Sr. of McCarley; and his two grandchildren, Malcolm McNeil
Bennett IV and Arabella Ruth Bennett, both of Natchez.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carrollton Presbyterian Church, 604 Green Street, Carrollton, MS 38917; or to a
charity of the donor's choice.
So sorry about Mr. Mack. He was a true Southern gentleman and will be greatly missed in our community. My
thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.
I am deeply saddened at Mr. Bennett's passing. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met and I know he will be
sorely missed by his family and his community. Bennett Family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers and may peace
be with you all.

kept up, didn't he, and knew a great deal of this county's history. He will be missed. Who can step up to f ollow hi m
