Harvey Gene Matthews
(December 22, 1934 - January 17, 2018)

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Gene Matthews of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, in the Oliver Funeral Home
Chapel, with burial following in Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery in Winona.  Dr. Jay Richardson will officiate the services.  Pallbearers
will be Tommy Matthews, Mike Collins, Larry Collins, Myron Collins, Edward Wats on, and Bracky Brett.

Visitation will be Monday, from noon until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mr. Matthews, 83, died at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville on Wednesday, January 17.  He was born in Kilmichael on
December 22, 1934, to Arthur Lee and Ada Elma Moorhead Matthews.  He was a retired purchasing agent for Baird and Company
Wholesale Hardware and a U. S. Army veteran.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.  Mr. Matthews enjoyed
woodworking and loved the outdoors.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Sue Branch Matthews of Greenville; daughter, Susan Matthews Casey (William)
of Greenville; son, Harvey Gene Matthews Jr. (Sara) of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Christine Matthews Watson of Walnut; five
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Aunt Sue, Chip and Susan:
There are no words to let you know how sad we are to hear about Uncle Gene. He had a good life with much love
from all of us. He will be missed forever and remembered always. We had a lot of good times growing up with all of
our aunts and uncles. We will see you Monday.
