Irene Downs McNeer
(February 12, 1943 - June 3, 2019)
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Irene Downs McNeer of North Carrollton will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at
Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton, with Rev. Jerry McNeer officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brent Carver, Danny Cox, Austin Douglas, Clint Littleton, Hunter McNeer, and Clay Perry.
Mrs. McNeer, 76, died at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Monday, June 3, 2019. She was born in Carroll County on
February 12, 1943, to Malcolm Reed and Dorris Hood Downs. She was a graduate of J. Z. George High School and worked as a
bookkeeper for Scientific Telecom until her Parkinson's disease diagnosis. She was married to Jimmie Donald McNeer and they
celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in February. Mrs. McNeer enjoyed cooking and watching her children and grandchildren
participate in various activities. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. McNeer is survived by her husband, Jimmie Donald McNeer of North Carrollton; daughter, LaDonna McNeer Watkins of North
Carrollton; two sons, Jim McNeer (Kim) of Greenwood and Chadwick Lee McNeer of North Carrollton; five grandchildren, Kelly Peeples
Carver (Brent), Kristy Peeples McIntyre (Chad), Hunter Thompson McNeer (Courtney), Kendyll Reed Douglas (Austin), and Carter E.
McNeer (Clay); and six great-grandchildren, Hollie, Hadley, and Carsen Carver, Payden and Katie Lee McIntyre, and Jaxon Douglas.
