Douglas Lenn Carter
(February 7, 1932 - March 22, 2017)

Funeral services for Douglas Lenn Carter of Winona will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with
burial following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona.  Rev. Ed McDaniel and Rev. Thomas Carpenter will officiate the
services.  

Visitation will be Friday, from 1:30 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter, 85, died at his home on Wednesday, March 22.  He was born in Union County on February 7, 1932, to Clarence William and
Iva Nona Snipes Carter.  He retired from MDOT after 47 years, and then worked for Michael Baker Construction in the engineering
department.  Mr. Carter was an avid golfer and enjoyed walking for exercise.  He was a member of North Winona Baptist Church.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 48-1/2 years, Lauree Carter of Winona; one daughter, Mindy Clark of Southaven; two grandchildren,
Maari Carter of Tallahassee, Florida, and Josh Downs of Batesville; one great-grandchild, Braylen Downs; and several nieces and
nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane Self; and brother, C. W. Carter Jr.

Pallbearers will be Keith Carter, David Carter, J. R. Carpenter, Andrew Carpenter, Mike Carpenter, and George Self.  Honorary pallbearers
will be John Killebrew, Bob Long, John Simmons, Clyatt Strickland, Charles Sheffield, Ralph Ellison, Wayne McDonald, Donnie Ware,
Keith Marchant, and Lawrence Braswell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery Fund, 204 Locke Drive, Kilmichael, MS  39747.
