Fred B. Dacus, Jr.
(November 23, 1927 - June 10, 2019)

Fred B. Dacus, Jr., age 91, passed away on June 10, 2019 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL.

He was born in Stewart, MS on November 23, 1927 to Fred B Dacus Sr. and Ella Jackson Dacus.  He lived in Montgomery County for 89
years before moving to Pensacola.

In 2017, Sara Nan, his beloved wife of 68 years, passed away.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Bontemps, his
parents, his brother, Harold Dacus, and his sister, Opal Simonds.  He is survived by his children Barbara Hoffman (Jack), John Dacus
(Monica), Patricia Mills (Ian); a son-in-law Fred Bontemps; grandchildren Jay Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Caroline Allen, Paul Mills, Brian
Mills, and Jeremy Bontemps; great-grandchildren Garrett, Zoe, JD, Kate, Sara, Eva, Eli and Ian; and several nieces and nephews.

Fred married Sara Nan Garrett on January 15, 1949 and together they built Dacus Furniture Company while raising four children.  In addition
to being a successful businessman, he was a Veteran, raised cattle for many years, and loved to travel out West with his wife and friends.  
He was loved and respected by his family, friends, and the community as a whole.  He will be greatly missed.  

Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Milligan Springs Baptist Church near Stewart.  A memorial service will follow at
10:00 a.m., with burial following in the church cemetery.  His grandson, Reverend Michael Hoffman, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Down Syndrome Foundation
(www.up21foundation.org).
