Alvin Malone
(August 16, 1926 - February 9, 2019)

Funeral services for Alvin Malone of McCarley, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 11, in the chapel at Oliver Funeral
Home of Winona, with burial following in the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael. Rev. Rupert
Ingram will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Kenny Malone, Sammy Malone, Brian Malone, Tony Thomas, Bennie
Watson, and James Watson.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 10, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mr. Malone passed away at his home on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was born in Montgomery County on August 16,
1926, to Samuel Smithwick and Edna Chesteen Malone and was 92 years old. Mr. Malone was a faithful member of
McCarley Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a graduate of Holmes Jr. College and Delta State
University. Mr. Malone served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. He was a Mason and a member of the
Order of the Eastern Star for 70 years.  His life vocation was in law enforcement, including 11 years with the Mississippi
Highway Patrol, a charter member of the Mississippi Peace Officers Association, sheriff of Attala County from 1966-1970,
interim sheriff of Carroll County in 1996, and a park ranger with the U.S. Corps of Engineers for 11 years.

Mr. Malone is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Helen McCrary Barrentine Malone; daughter, Rita Malone Bordelon
(Kerry) of Livingston, LA; stepdaughter, Janet B. Jennings (Ted) of Kosciusko; stepson, Lydell Barrentine of McCarley;
grandchildren, Christopher Malone and Miranda Bordelon of Livingston, LA, Clint Boutwell of Southhaven, and Camille
Boutwell Bain of Kosciusko; three
great-grandchildren, Mary Lakyn Boutwell of Winona, and Sam Riley Hunter and Kensley Bain of Koscuisko; and one
sister Nell Watson of Pearl.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Edna Chesteen Malone, seven
sisters, and four brothers.

Memorials may be made to the McCarley Baptist Church, P O Box 52, McCarley, MS 38943; or to the charity of the
donor's choice.
