Gary Lynn Melton
(January 11, 1948 - September 30,2017)

Gary Lynn Melton, 69, of Winona died at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Saturday, September 30, 2017.  He was born
on January 11, 1948, to James L. and Mildred Baskin Melton.  Mr. Melton was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a
member of Scotland Baptist Church near Winona.  He was an extremely avid hunter and had a passion for gardening.  He was preceded in
death by his parents and a sister, Cynthia Karen Melton.

Mr. Melton is survived by a sister, Sandra McCullough of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, James L. Melton of Garland, Texas; and eight nieces
and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, at Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona, with Rev. John
Jacks officiating.  A visitation will be held at Scotland Baptist Church on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

I am sorry about Gary. We enjoyed talking about all the good times we had in 4-H with Mr. Bob Wilson. I hope you

Carolyn Moore Harry

My name is Carolyn Moore Harry and I reside in Canton, Mississippi.  I was so sorry to read of Gary's passing.  You
see, I was previously married to James Charles Moore from Canton, Mississippi on June 15, 1969 and Gary was the
Best Man in our wedding. My marriage to Charles was short-lived as he was tragically killed in a plane crash shortly
after our wedding.  Gary and I remained in contact for several years, but as time moved on, so did we.  I well
remember how fond my late husband was of Gary and he brought so much fun and laughter to our wedding weekend.  
It has been 48 years ago, but I remember it vividly.  I eventually moved on and married someone else and have been
blessed with a good life.  Please accept my sympathy in the passing of Gary.  He was truly a great friend and a great
