Scarlett Jo Mitchell Devine
(July 6, 1958 - December 9, 2020)

Scarlett Jo Mitchell Devine passed away on December 9, 2020 with her family by her side. A graveside service was held
on Saturday, December 12 at Midway Cemetery outside Vaiden led by Bro. Dean Stewart and Bro. David
Westmoreland. Pallbearers were Bill Carson, Dennis Dean, Brad Fouche’, Larry Graves, John Hightower and Jimmy
Webb.

Scarlett was born on July 6, 1958 in Greenwood, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her father Joe Mitchell, her
mother Beverly Norfleet Williams Beam, and her mother-in-law Sammie Devine. She is survived by her husband, Stanley
Devine of Vaiden, children Alex Devine of Miami, FL and Adrianne Devine of Brandon, her step-father J. D. Beam
(Shirley) of Stewart, her sister-in-law Sally Woods (Chad) of Kilmichael, her father-in-law James Devine of Vaiden, her
sister-in-law Robin Graves (Larry) of Starkville, 1 niece, 3 nephews, and 3 great nieces.

Scarlett graduated from Eupora High School in 1976 and pursued a career in nursing after completing her Bachelor of
Science in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women in 1987.

Scarlett was a care taker by nature, from caring for her grandmother as she aged and her health declined to all the
patients she cared for during her years as a nurse for Sta-Home, even carrying that over to the diabetic patients she
worked with at PharmNet.

Scarlett was also fiercely loyal to and supportive of her family and her church. She and Stanley were happily married for
30 years, raising a beautiful family. She truly loved watching her children pursue their passions, traveling all over for
Alex’s ballgames and Adi’s band and choral performances when they were younger, and in more recent times
supporting Alex as he builds his career as a college football coach, and sharing a career with Adi through nursing.

Scarlett did not miss an opportunity to serve her Lord and Savior or her church. She was a faithful member of Vaiden
Baptist Church where she volunteered many years in the nursery, vacation bible school, and the children’s Sunday
school programs. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorials can be made to Vaiden Baptist Church, 501 Mulberry St, Vaiden, MS 39176 or to the Midway Cemetery
Fund, 49702 Highway 430, Vaiden, MS 39176.
