Berma Johnson Vail

July 20, 1932 – August 5, 2021

Funeral services for Berma Johnson Vail, of Winona, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 9, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona, with burial following in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Sam Dodd will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Brad Johnson, Alan Holmes, Phil Johnson, Shane Johnson, and Steven Mann, Jr.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home and Monday, August 9 from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Berma Johnson Vail, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada. She was born in Montgomery County on July 20, 1932 to Wade Lydell and Lottie Peeples Johnson. She was a retired South Central Bell employee and a self-employed encyclopedia salesperson. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona.

Mrs. Vail is survived by her daughter, Sherry Vail Amason (Timmy) of Kilmichael; sons, William W. “Bill” Vail (Kay) and Michael Earl Vail, both of Winona; sister, Annette Mills of Winona; brother, Thomas Johnson of Winona; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl “Tip” Vail; and brother, Wade Lydell Johnson, Jr.

  4. I am so sorry about Burma. I haven’t seen her since Tip passed. He and John were 1st cousins and we were all close at one time. I believe I have a set of books she sold me. She was so sweet and I know y’all are gonna miss her. I pray for you in your grief. Jo Pearson💔💔💔
