A memorial service for Mrs. Deborah Shanks Garrett, of Vaiden, will be held Thursday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Vaiden Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the Church. Rev. David Westmoreland will officiate the service.
Mrs. Garrett, 69, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was born March 31, 1952 to Alton and Margaret Bingham Shanks in Greenville, MS. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1971, and was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church. She loved her family, riding motorcycles, traveling and camping.
Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents; son, Phillip Jason Childs; and brother, Alton Dewey Shanks, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Garrett; daughter, Kim Ball (Richard); sons, Trey Childs (Julie) and Neal Jones; sisters, Peggy Utz, Lori Rodgers, Lisa Cortesi, Gina Kirby, Carol Latham and Traci Denton; six grandchildren, Kaylee Rochelle (Ridge), Peyton Childs (Jamie), Phillip Jason Childs, Jr. (Alley), Hannah Bowers, Amber Benton and Ashley Jones; two great-grandchildren, Easton Ridge Rochelle and Sawyer Marie Rochelle; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
