
A memorial service for Alice Louise Burke Marchant of Winona, Mississippi will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the service. A private burial will be held at North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, Mississippi.
Mrs. Marchant, 102, passed away July 16, 2026, at Vaiden Community Living Center. She was born in Puckett, Mississippi on May 19, 1924, to Lewis Lafayette and Ima Lucy McClain Burke. After graduating from Puckett High School, she attended Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. She went to work for Bell Telephone (now AT&T) in Jackson and in 1946 met the love of her life Jake Marchant.
Louise continued to work until the birth of her children and then decided to be a stay-at-home mom. They were married November 8, 1946, and spent the next 72 years together until Jake’s death on February 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Sue Gregg and brother, Charles Burke.
After his retirement Jake and Louise loved to travel and made many trips out west with several of their friends. Louise was an avid member of the Winona Lioness Club for 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
She is survived by two sons, Keith Marchant and wife Lynn of Winona and Glenn Marchant of Brandon, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Rev. Randy Marchant of Kossuth, Mississippi and Samantha Marchant Adams and husband Robert of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Laynee Claire Marchant Liberto and husband Paul of Brandon, Mississippi, Jacob and Mary Catherine Adams of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and one great-great-grandchild, Eleanor Liberto and a little boy due in October.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for memorial contributions to be made to North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2 Legion Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747.
