Graveside services for Mr. Andrew Jackson McIlwain, Jr. of McCarley will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 at Hickory Grove Cemetery near McCarley. Rev. Jerry McNeer will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Bill Garner, Jr., Trey Fleming, Randy Harbin, Andrew McIlwain, Andy Story, and Andrew Nagel. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Garner, Joe Serio, and Mr. McIlwain’s sons-in-law, Mark Andrews, Len McElduff, Wayne Rogers, and Mark Tankersly.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 12 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. McIlwain, 80, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his residence in McCarley. He was born April 5, 1941 to Andrew Jackson and Myrtle Mann McIlwain. He was a retired City of Greenwood employee and farmer. He loved farming and was an avid deer hunter.
Mr. McIlwain is survived by his wife, of 27 years, Jo Ann DeLapp McIlwain of McCarley; daughters, Lisa Rogers (Wayne) of Murfreesboro, TN, Lynne Tankersly (Mark) of Coldwater, Lori Andrews (Mark) of Marianna, AR, Linda McElduff (Len) of Cullman, AL; daughter at heart, Athena Nagel (Andrew) of Starkville; sons, Jason McIlwain (Annie) of Madison and Stephen Fleming, Jr. of McCarley; sisters, Beatrice Crocker of Boyle, Sally Harbin of Grenada, and Judy Steed (Ira) of Alama, TN; brother, Jackie McIlwain of Carrollton; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and caregiver Emmer Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Thelma Garner and Lillie Green.
