Bennie Bernard Blaylock

January 7, 1937 – November 25, 2025

Bennie Blaylock, 88, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025, surrounded by his family in Portland, TN.

Bennie was born January 7, 1937, to Leo and Montee Collins Blaylock in Winona, MS. He graduated from Winona High School where he was involved in high school sports. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Babye Ruth Woods. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Leland, MS where he ran Scott’s Parts Store in Greenville, MS. He served in the Mississippi National Guard.

He and Babye Ruth had four sons, Gary Blaylock (Charlotte) of Greenville, Jackie Blaylock (Janet) of Carrollton, Rodney Blaylock (Mel) of Greenville and Benjamin Blaylock (Tiffany) of Portland, TN.

When he retired, he and Ruth moved back to Winona. He farmed his mother’s and father’s place. He loved to grow all kinds of vegetables in the summer and pick up pecans in the fall. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years; four sons; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Lillian Blaylock Scott.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Keith Blaylock, Dean Blaylock, Wade Blaylock, Taylor Blaylock, Skylar Blaylock, Paten McDaniel, and Lee Blaylock.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.

Following visitation there will be a graveside service held at Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Jay Anderson and Rev. Reidis Nash will officiate the service.
