Billy Cox

A graveside service for Billy Cox of Winona will be held on Thursday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the Indianola City Cemetery in Indianola, MS. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the service.

Billy Cox, 86, passed away at his home in Winona on Thursday, December 2, 2021. He was born in Indianola to Billy and Minnie Smith Cox on July 24, 1935. He was a graduate of Winona High School and attended North Winona Baptist Church. Earlier in his life, he worked for Piggly Wiggly Corp. and served in the Mississippi Army National Guard.

Mr. Cox is survived by two daughters, Melanie Cox of Louisville, KY and Deandrea “Dee” Cox Hunt (Ray) of Brandon; brother, Eddie Smith Cox (Marlynn) of Lebanon, Indiana; and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he preceded death by his daughter, Casandra Cox and brother, Daniel Ezekiel Cox.

  1. So sorry to hear that Mr. Billy passed on. We really enjoyed going to Southside Baptist Church with him. Y’all are in our prayers.

  2. Billy was a great friend to me and my family. He helped us in expanding our small family store into a full-service grocery store. He was the best! I tried several times to locate with no avail. I am sad he is no longer with us. Condolences to his family.
