Billy Wayne “Pete” Thrailkill

August 6, 1933 – April 20, 2024

Funeral services for Billy Wayne “Pete” Thrailkill, of French Camp, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at French Camp Baptist Church in French Camp, with burial following in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery near French Camp. Rev. Randy Bridges and Mr. Nathan Wright will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Scott Barlow, Rodney Henley, John Thrailkill, Jeff Ward, Billy Ward, and Brandon Busby. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude King, W. T. Pollard, Coach John Cockrell, Coach Charles Rich, Coach Pierce McIntosh, Kenneth Thompson, Johnny Anderson, Bobby Henderson, and Bobby Youngblood.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.

Billy Wayne “Pete” Thrailkill, 90, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born in French Camp to John James and Iletie Pauline Armstrong Thrailkill on August 6, 1933. He was a retired millwright and an avid sports fan. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in French Camp and a Shriner. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean war and was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church and attended French Camp Baptist Church.

Pete is survived by two daughters, Denise McClurg (Billy Michael) of French Camp and Melinda Hopkins (Kevin) of French Camp; son, Michael Thrailkill (Kimberly) of Collinsville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donnis Jean Keen Thrailkill; wife, Jo Ann Bagwell Thrailkill; grandson, Billy Forrest McClurg; and sister, Katheryn Turner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3521 Hwy 407, French Camp, MS 39745; French Camp Academy Athletic Department, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745; or to French Camp Baptist Church – Building Fund, 4155 MS Hwy 413, French Camp, MS 39745.

  1. We were saddened to hear of Pete’s passing. We are the Millwrights that stay at Pete’s RV Park when we work at Entergy Choctaw. He was a great guy. Our prayers go out to his families.
