Carolyn Shackael Jefcoat

November 29, 1943 – October 21, 2025

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Shackael Jefcoat of Greenwood will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Hal Clark and Rev. Jerry Jones will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. Pallbearers will be Michael Jefcoat, Matthew Jefcoat, Brett Moorman, Kenny Downs, Roy Smith, Michael Britt, and Kendall Downs.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 26, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Monday, October 27, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.

Mrs. Jefcoat passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, at the age of 81. She was born in Kilmichael, MS to Paige and Melvin Montgomery Shackael on November 29, 1943. Mrs. Jefcoat was a faithful member of Calvery Baptist Church in Greenwood where she was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union. She loved her church family and enjoyed serving alongside them. Prior to retiring, she worked as a Cafeteria Manager for 43 years at Pillow Academy.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Nobles (Charlie) of Winona; son, Michael Jefcoat (Anna Joyce) of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Madison Jefcoat, Michael Jefcoat, Matthew Jefcoat, Nancy Williams and Allyn Nobles; and four great-grandchildren, Rowan Williams, Thalih Williams, Emma Rae Boswell and Marlie Boswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Barrett “Ed” Jefcoat; two sisters, Jean Britt and Edna Montague and brother, Robert Morris “Buddy” Shackael.

  2. Thinking of Melanie and the entire family during this sad time. Mrs. Jefcoat always had a bright smile and friendly attitude at Pillow.
