Charlie Fred Armstrong Jr.

Funeral services for Charlie Fred Armstrong Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Bethsaida Baptist Church near French Camp, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges and Rev. Grant McElveen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Justin Taylor, Cody Crist, Jay Ferguson, Scott Barlow, Dewayne Jackson, and Danny Samples. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Crist and Rodney Henley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, at the church.

Charlie Fred Armstrong Jr., age 79, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2025. He was born on December 28, 1945, and served honorably in the United States Air Force. Charlie went on to build a long and successful career as a grocery store manager with Jitney Jungle, working at various locations across Mississippi and one in Arkansas. After relocating to Texas, he continued his management career with Tom Thumb. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.

Charlie was a man of deep faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Garland, TX. He cherished time with his family and will be remembered for his kind and giving spirit, selflessness, optimism, and wonderful sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lozelle and Charlie Fred Armstrong Sr., and his brother, Gary Nelson Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha McClurg Armstrong, of Wylie, TX; daughters Kim Freeman (Mike) and Kris Evans (Tim); son Matthew Armstrong; brother Robert Armstrong (Violet); six grandchildren: Blake Armstrong, Justin Taylor (Michelle), Ashleigh Marshall (TJ), China Lockhart (Austin), Cody Crist, and Alyx Freeman; and seven great-grandchildren.
