
David Craig Carter passed away peacefully in his sleep at home November 28, 2021. He was born to the late Bud Carter and Ada Carter of Yazoo City. David graduated in 1984 from Manchester Academy. He played football at Holmes Community College for two years where he met the love of his life Tracy Cox Carter. He continued his education at Mississippi State University and graduated in 1991 with a degree in sports management. David enjoyed a career in management and caring for others at North Mississippi Regional Center.
David was an avid sports fan and his all-time favorite players were his sons. He could always be found cheering his Dave and Zack at all their sporting events or watching his little girl dance and cheer. Being a father was his passion.
David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tracy C. Carter; his three children, David C. “Dave” Carter, Jr. (Christina), Zachary Thomas Carter (Cassidy), and Madison Grace Carter; one granddaughter, Carson Joan Carter; three brothers, Franky Carter (Michelle), Robby Carter, and Jamey Carter (Amber); and many loved family members, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1 at noon, with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Winona, MS. Graveside services will immediately follow at Reeds Chapel Cemetery on Reeds Chapel Road in Stewart, MS. Pallbearers will be Coty Bennett, Colin Bennett, John Rueben Cox, Mason Carter, B. Brasfield, Jordan Davis, Zach Howell, and Craig Kirkendall.
Services will be performed by Dr. Tim Mims and Zachary Carter.

I am sorry to learn of David’s passing. I remember when he played ball at Holmes and you were dating. He was a good father and I know he will be missed. I have two doctor’s appointments in Jackson tomorrow and can not come. I am praying for you and the children.
