David “Sonny” Tidwell

Funeral services for David “Sonny” Tidwell of Winona will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Oliver Chapel on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, with burial following in Mission Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona. Rev. Bobby Palmertree will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be David Tidwell, Dillon Lambert, Lee Howard, Bubba Bond, Tanner Bond, and Tony Palmertree.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

David “Sonny” Tidwell, 79, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Diversicare in Eupora. He was born on June 30, 1945, to David Franklin and Mattie Lou Cochran Tidwell. He was a retired employee of the Montgomery County Unit System and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Tidwell is survived by his daughter, Karen Carter (Walter) of Carrollton; two sons, David D. Tidwell Jr. (Nikona) of Winona and Paul Lambert (Betty Jo) of Jay, FL; sister, Davie Mae Haley of Winona; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Gammill.

  2. I was so sorry to hear this news. Sonny and I went to school together and played on the basketball team from junior high through high school. All the family are in our prayers.
