Debra Downs Hooks

Funeral services for Debra Downs Hooks, of Elliott, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jamie Hooks, Jeffery Hooks, Will Downs, Jimmy Tullos Jr., Trey Hall, and Ethan Tullos. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold James, Harmon Downs, Jackson Hooks, and Jordan Hooks.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29 from noon until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

Debra Downs Hooks, 56, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 26, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1964 to John and Linda James Downs in Raleigh County, West Virginia. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She loved decorating and tending to her garden and flowers. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Carroll County.

Mrs. Hooks is survived by her husband, Alan Hooks of Elliott; two sons, Jeffery Hooks (Haley Hays) of Dowagiac, MI and Jamie Hooks (Rhiannon) of Guntown; parents, John and Linda James Downs of Grenada; brother, Petey Downs III (Betty Sue) of Lafayette, TN; sister, Ramona Morgan Hall (Marvin) of Charleston; two grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Hooks; and several nieces and nephews.
