Donna Howard Serio

January 9, 1956 – April 21, 2023

Donna Howard Serio, 67, of McCarley, Ms., passed away at her home on Friday, April 21, 2023.

She was born on January 9, 1956, to James and Peggy Mullen Howard of McCarley.  Donna’s first true love was undoubtedly her Lord Jesus.  She worked faithfully to serve him all the days of her life.  She knew it was her greatest obedience to raise her children and grandchildren to learn the Way of faith in Jesus and delighted greatly in seeing them love and serve because of their faith in Him!

She was also known to be a gentle and caring nurse, nursing instructor, and home health care worker ministering to her patients not with just skill but with the love of her Father.  She had a love for music and always delighted in playing the piano and singing.  Her son and grandchildren especially loved her piano and singing with and for her!  She also had an avid passion for all things gardening and flowers, and until her last days, still found joy in talking about the pleasures that come with the spring season – knowing that new growth and life was a gift of God!

She is survived by the loving father of her children, Joe Serio, of McCarley, Ms.  Three beautiful children – Mary Margaret Holmes (Heath) of Tuscumbia, Al., Anne Clair Serio of French Camp, Ms., and Matthew Serio (April) of Winona, Ms.  Six grandchildren that she adored more than life itself: Aaron, Jordan, and Evan Holmes and Skylar, Sadie, and Baylor Serio.  Her mother, Margaret Anne (Peggy) Mullen Howard of McCarley, Ms.  Three siblings, Debbie Bond (Rocky) of West Point, Ms., Jim Howard (Renee) of McCarley, Ms., and Ronnie Howard (Lashan) of McCarley, Ms., as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Howard.

Visitation will be Monday, April 24, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of North Winona Baptist Church, and Graveside Services will be Tuesday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the McCarley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to be made to French Camp Academy and/or Camp of the Rising Son in French Camp, Ms.
