Dorris Lee Daughety Montgomery

August 5, 1928 – May 18, 2021

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorris Lee Daughety Montgomery of Blackhawk will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Blackhawk Baptist Church in Black Hawk, with Rev. Martin Jacks officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 1 pm until service time, at the church. Burial will follow in the Blackhawk Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Barrett McKay, Michael Lee Bruce and Richie Wiltshire.

Mrs. Montgomery, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood. She was born August 5, 1928, in Stewart, MS to Vester Earl and Gladys Aline Jacks Daughety. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Blackhawk Baptist Church, and Blackhawk Home Demonstration group. She loved gardening, fishing and cooking. She was a homemaker and previously worked at Supreme Electronics in Greenwood as an inspector.

Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Vernon Montgomery; daughter, Ann Carpenter; son, David Montgomery; three sisters, Brownie Nail, Edna Jenkins, Dorothy Noonan; and grandson, Chris Carpenter.

Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her daughter, Patsy Bruce of Blackhawk; her brothers, Bill Daughety of Brandon; and Jimmy Daughety of Raymond; grandchildren, Tonya McClure (Joe), Michelle Shaw (Richard), Rob Carpenter (Andie), and Brandy Roden; great-grandchildren, Blair McKay, Natalie Jones, Whitney Shaw, Rylee Shaw, Hays Roden, Erin Embry (Matt), Rory Carpenter, and Sam Carpenter; great-great-grandchildren, Jon Barrett McCay, Cullen McKay, London and Raylan Jones, Skyler Howe, Maddie and Audrey Embry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blackhawk Baptist Church Cemetery.
