Dovie Onita Russell Parsons

Funeral services for Dovie Onita Russell Parsons of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at North Winona Baptist Church, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Rusty Parsons and Rev. Tracey Putnam will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Cade Parsons, Shannon Parsons, Taylor Reeves, Joe W. Russell, Don Jones, John Allen Corry, and Grayson Baas. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Mitchell, Lawrence Braswell, Tim McBride, Ed Golding, Tony Sheffield, and Gene McNeer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10 from noon until service time at North Winona Baptist Church.

Dovie Onita Russell Parsons, 90, passed away at her home in Winona on Saturday, May 7, 2022. She was born in Glenwald, MS to Joe Rodgers and Lois Collins Russell on November 20, 1931. She married her high-school sweetheart, Carlton Parsons, on May 11, 1952 and then left for Newport, Rhode Island, where he was stationed with the Navy. She worked for Delta Electric for fourteen years and also worked for Ellis Tractor. She was a devoted and faithful charter member of North Winona Baptist Church, where she served as pianist, organist, and Sunday School teacher. She loved and was devoted to her family.

Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carlton Parsons of Winona; daughter, Beverly Broussard (Dave) of Tallahassee, FL; son, Ronald R. Parsons Sr. (Lisa) of Philadelphia, MS; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Carlton Parsons; and three brothers, Joe W. Russell, William H. Russell, and Jimmie Russell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to North Winona Baptist Church.
