
Funeral services for Edith Ileta Baskin Weed of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2 at Scotland Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Paul Trosper will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Ryan Weed, Kent Plummer, Ray Thorn, Perry Vaughn, Al Weed, Carla Garrett, Darryl Huggins, and Frank Weed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 2 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Scotland Baptist Church.
Edith Ileta Baskin Weed, 97, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden. She was born in Winona to William Monroe “Red” and Alma Ree Nash Baskin on May 4, 1928. She was a retired homemaker and faithful member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Rebecca Weed of Vidalia, LA; two sons, Richard Allen Weed Jr. (Bootsie) of Winona and William Albert Weed (Joyce) of Saltillo; sister, Jennie Edwards of Ashville, NC; brother in law, Burrell Huggins of Winona; six grandchildren, Rhonda Thorn (Ray), Terri Vaughn (Perry), Al Weed (Salena), Thomasina Farrell, Valerie Murphy, and Kelsey Weed; host of great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Weed, Sr.; sister, Rosa Nell Huggins; and brother Sonny Baskin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Scotland Baptist Church, 782 County Road 14, Winona, MS 38967.
We are so very sorry to hear about Mrs. Weed. She was a nice lady and her and Mr. Weed were good neighbors.. I remember them both for so many things. We are keeping the family in our prayers as you say goodbye through the difficult days ahead. Love in Christ!
