
Mrs. Evelyn Cummings Dean of Stewart passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora on Thursday, February 18. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, at Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church in Stewart, with burial following in the Reed’s Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Robert Bright, Eric Yeatman, Chris Lane, Clay Dean, Hunter McIntyre, and Chad Fauver. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Bright and Roger Green.
A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Dean, 73, was born in Kilmichael on June 28, 1947, to Shirley and Grace Vaughn Cummings. She was a retired employee of Garan Manufacturing and Red Cap Manufacturing, and a member of Union Baptist Church in Stewart. She enjoyed dirt track racing, gardening, fishing, and working; and she loved her family and spending time with them. Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Franks Dean; her parents; and two brothers, Larry Cummings and Dale Cummings.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Denise Laney (Frank) of Stewart and Brandi Darlene Orr (Jerry) of Stewart; two sons, Bruce William Dean (Rita) of Stewart and Phillip Lamar Dean of Stewart; one brother, Randy Cummings (Linda) of Stewart; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
