G. B. “Butch” Gill

Funeral services for G. B. “Butch” Gill of Stewart will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Freewill Cemetery (William Springs Church of God) in Stewart. Rev. Don Smith and Rev. Brad Latham will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Dave Burney, Ricky Kilgore, Chad McEntire, Brad Latham, Jim Meriwether, and Al Meriwether. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Montana and Gaylon Williamson.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

G. B. “Butch” Gill, 82, passed away peacefully at his home near Stewart on Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was born in Itta Bena, MS on August 31, 1939 to George Burnett and Nan McGehee Gill. He was a co-owner of Mississippi Tennessee Transformer Company until he retired and also a cattleman. He was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church in Poplar Creek.

Mr. Gill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Meriwether Gill of Stewart; two sons, Mack Gill (Patricia) of Mathiston and Gray Gill (Connie) of Kilmichael; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
