
Funeral services for Glenda Louise Black, of French Camp, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, in the Oliver Funeral Home chapel, with Mr. Nathan Wright officiating the services. Burial will follow in Bethel cemetery near Kilmichael. Pallbearers will be Patrick Hopkins, Daryl Black, Lane Greenlee, Thomas Greenlee, Dillion Black, and Glen Parkerson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Glenda Louise Black, 90, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Choctaw Regional Hospital in Ackerman. She was born in French Camp, MS to George and Dochie Channell Black on July 20, 1935. Glenda attended Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN, Harding University in Searcy, AR and received her master’s from the University of Mississippi. She taught high school at both De La Warr High and Colonial High in Delaware. She was a member of Huntsville Church of Christ in Huntsville, MS.
She is survived by her sisters, Janelle Hopkins (Paul D.) and Melba Braswell (Marvis), both of French Camp; brother, Paul Black (Marcella) of French Camp; sister-in-law, Bonnie Black of French Camp; brother-in-law, Bobby Wade of Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Willard L. Black and sisters, Eva Joy Wade, Warrene Greenlee, and Myrna Faye Black.
