
Glover Allen “Gator Al” Swafford, Jr., age 78, passed away at his home on July 6, 2025. Al was born on December 13, 1946, in North Carrollton, Mississippi to Glover Allen Swafford, Sr. and Edna Loraine Flemmons Swafford.
Raised in North Carrollton, Al moved to Grenada as a teenager and was a graduate of John Rundle High School, class of ’65. He entered the U.S. Air Force in March of 1966, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was discharged in January of 1970. Al attended Jones Business College and Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. A salesman for Thompson Pump in Orlando, Florida, he retired in 2005 and moved back to North Carrollton to his family home. He was a Master Mason out of Eola Masonic Lodge No. 207 in Orlando, Florida and a noble of the Bahia Shriners of Orlando, Florida.
A dedicated and fervent supporter of his beloved Florida Gators, he was known as “Gator Al”. Al loved football, Nascar Racing, Mardi Gras and a good time!
Preceded in death by his parents, special Uncle Leo Flemmons, sister Allene Swafford Brown Chatham; Al is survived by his daughter, Carrie Swafford Pauleon (Julian) of Sugar Hill, GA and three grandchildren, Gabriel, Julianna and David; half siblings Ann Swafford Hite of Marietta, GA and Jeffrey “Jeff” Swafford of Dalton, GA; niece, Allison Brown Sanchez (Craig) of Pensacola, Fl and nephew, Ben “Neely” Brown (Sheri) of Brandon, MS.
