
Funeral services for Ida Stoker Nelms, of Vaiden, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31 in the Oliver Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in at Milligan Springs Cemetery near Kilmichael. The committal service will be held in the chapel, immediately following the funeral service. Rev. Bobby Palmertree will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Marcus Ward, Ronnie Hambrick, William Wylie, and Richard Stoker.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ida Stoker Nelms, 93, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Vaiden Community Living Center. She was born on September 9, 1932, to Ira Thomas and Katie Lott Stoker. Ida was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church and the Brownline Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hambrick; three grandchildren: Ronnie Hambrick of Vaiden, Kerrie Wylie of Vaiden, and Aaron Hambrick of Breaux Bridge, LA; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Fredrick Nelms; daughter, Ellen Mock; sons, James Fredrick “Fred” Nelms Jr. and David Wayne Nelms; and one grandson, James Fredrick Nelms III.
