James Earl “Bud” Bond

November 27, 1949 – October 6, 2023

Funeral services for James Earl “Bud” Bond of Ethel, formerly of Kilmichael, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Pine Bluff Cemetery near Poplar Creek. Rev. Bobby Palmertree and Rev. Curtis Graham will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Thomas Mann, Justin Hovas, Colby Jones, Bubba Bond, Tanner Bond, and Dalton Bond. Honorary pallbearers will be David Tidwell, Steven Mann, and Ryan Hovas.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 7 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.

James Earl “Bud” Bond, 73, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Attala County Nursing Center in Kosciusko. He was born in Kilmichael on November 27, 1949, to George O’Neal and Era Chandler Bond. He was one of thirteen children and loved fishing, camping, and going to the lake. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities, as well as playing cards and dominoes. “007” worked his entire life, beginning early in Kilmichael where he would work the animals, but he could often be found in the woods. He drove eighteen wheelers his whole career, with his last job being for his nephew at Bubba Bond Logging.

He is survived by his daughter, Regina Nabors (Todd) of Ethel; son, Dennis Bond (Jullie) of Noxapater; six sisters, Luna Montague of Kilmichael, Julia Bond of Kilmichael, Kay Dees of McCool, Bonnie Mann of Winona, Linda Barnhill of Winona, and Dot Nail of Winona; the apple of his eyes, his two grandchildren, Mikella Bond (Colby Jones) and Dalton Bond (Madison); and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an angel grandbaby; sister, Georgia Mae Osborn; five brothers, Neal Bond, James Edward Bond, Thomas Carrol Bond, James Clifton Bond, and Bailey “Billy” Bond; nephews, Bailey Chandler Bond and Donald Barnhill; and great-nephew, Greg Dees.
