James Elmer “J. E.” Woods

April 15, 1941 – January 11, 2026

Funeral services for James Elmer “J. E.” Woods will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery in Winona. Rev. Fletcher Moorman will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Steven Nixon, Eddie Dodd, Joseph Woods, Jim Buskirk, Guy Stanford, and Terry Woods.

Visitation will be Monday, January 12 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home; and Tuesday, January 13 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

James Elmer “J. E.” Woods, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Osceola, Arkansas on April 15, 1941, to Elmer Lee and Dorothy Mae Dodd Woods. He was a retired auto parts salesman for Tabor Brothers Auto Parts in Winona. He was a faithful member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona, where he served as a deacon for over 50 years.

He is survived by his two sons, Jerry Woods (Angela) of Winona and Randy Woods of Winona; and two grandchildren, Laura B. Woods of West Monroe, LA and Joseph Woods (Emma) of Decatur, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Nixon Woods; and grandson, Randy Dell “R. D.” Woods Jr.

  2. So sorry to hear about J E. I always enjoyed running into him and talking old times, we finished school together. He and Francis were such a sweet couple. Thought and prayers with you at this difficult time. Norma Costilow
