Graveside services for Mr. Jeff Busby “Butch” Bowen, Jr., of Winona, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, at Providence Cemetery in Grenada, MS, with Rev. Andy Coburn officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service Tuesday at Oliver Funeral Home.
Jeff Busby “Butch” Bowen, Jr. passed away peacefully Thursday, November 23, 2023. Butch, as he was affectionately known was born in Grenada, MS to Jeff & Emma Grace Bowen on July 20, 1942. He graduated from John Rundle High School.
He spent most of his younger years helping his grandparents John W. & Hattie Bowen on their farm in Gore Springs, MS, working with farm crops, cattle, and Grandma Bowen’s yearly vegetable garden. Butch was blessed to learn his true love of gardening from his many years of working with his family. He later moved to Winona, MS where he went to work for the MS Forestry Commission for several years. Butch also helped his dear Aunt Margaret Pittman in “The Sandwich Shoppe” where he learned his love of cooking especially his wonderful chicken salad. Butch was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winona. He loved his Lord and Savior. Butch was an example to so many for his kind heart and humble spirit. Butch will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Emily & Ernie Petty of Grenada for your kindness, love and wonderful care given to our Butch over these past few years. The both of you have been a blessing to our family.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents Jeff & Emma Grace Bowen.
Butch is survived by his sisters, Bettie Margaret Bowen of Beaverton, OR and Julia Ann Nosser (Albert “Dobie”) of Vicksburg, MS, his nephew Albert Joseph Nosser, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS, his niece Lauren Kathleen Martin (John Lloyd) of Hattiesburg, MS, his great niece Emma Kathleen Martin of Hattiesburg, his aunt Christine Hales (Lyn) of Vicksburg, MS, and many cousins. Also, his special friends Emily and Ernie Petty of Grenada, MS.
Pallbearers will be Albert J. “Dobie” Nosser, and Ernie Petty.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert “Joseph” Nosser, Jr., John Lloyd Martin, John W. Bowen III, and Lyndell Hales.

Butch was a dear cousin of mine through his mother, Emma Grace. I was close to Margaret, Cootie, Paul and Butch. I visited with them before Cootie died and saw and loved Butch. He gave me a package of Queen Anne’s Lace seeds the last time I heard from Butch. After Cootie died I wondered where he was I am 90 years old so could not check. Butch was one of the kindest and most caring persons I knew. He was a dear cousin and will be missed. Know he is with Margaret, Cootie and Paul.
