Jerry Dale Bridges

Funeral services for Jerry Dale Bridges of Kilmichael will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Tim McClain, Randy Smith, Jay Holly, Chase Marlow, Austin Thornburg, Eric Ferguson, Michael Ray, Kevin Bridges, and Logan Beckwith. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Atkinson, Tommy Gene Blaylock, Dale Brown, Ricky Bullard, Joe Holman, L.C. Smith, Wade Blount, Phil Gann, Larry Bamburg, Ben Loyd, and John Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and Thursday, October 6, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

Jerry Dale Bridges, 70, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at the University Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born February 29, 1952, to James and Margie Dees Bridges. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church. The dedication to his community can be seen through his service in several different former capacities in law enforcement throughout his career including: Chief of Police in Duck Hill. Chief of Police in French Camp, Assistant Chief of Police in Kilmichael, and Captain of Winona Police Department. He also served as interim sheriff of Montgomery County from July through December in 1999. He was a recipient of the Top Gun Annual Shooting Award for 30 years. He was currently serving as District 2 Constable of Montgomery County, where he has served since 1987. In 2001, he was awarded Constable of the Year. He has been active in the Mississippi Constable Association since 1988 and was currently serving as Vice-President. He served as President of the association from 2000 until 2003. He also served on the Winona Fire Department.

Mr. Bridges is survived by his wife, Cindy Bridges; daughters, Daphne McClain (Tim), Dana Smith (Randy), and Brandy Holly (Jay); sister, Debra Knot; brother, Dickie Bridges; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mississippi Constable Association, 197 Still Drive, Vicksburg, MS 39180 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

  1. Jerry Dale was a great friend and it was an honor and a pleasure to have known him. I have served with him over the last several years on the Mississippi Constables Board of Directors. He will be greatly missed by many constables across the state of Mississippi.

  7. It was my pleasure to get to know Jerry Dale during my time as lobbyist for the Constables Association since 1994. He was a supporter of mine through some tough times in the Association and we got to be close friends. He helped provide some stable leadership and made the Association a more cohesive group. I visited with him this summer at the convention. I knew he was facing some tough health issues, but was hoping he could pull through. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Cindy and girls.
