
Mr. Jerry Douglas Hoover, 81, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his residence in Winona.
A native of Winona, Jerry was born to Maudell Orsborn and Reuben Hoover on December 3, 1943. After graduating from Winona High School, he attended Holmes Jr, College where he played basketball. He finished his education with a degree from Mississippi State University.
Jerry began working at Staplcotn in Greenwood in 1975 and remained there until his retirement in 2009. While at Staplcotn he served at Vice President and COO of Stapldiscount. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winona where he served as Deacon and Elder.
Jerry was an avid golfer and enjoyed time with his friends playing cards and dominoes. Throughout his life Jerry remained a loyal friend to many of his classmates from WHS class of 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, and his brother, Lamar Hoover.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Glenda Wilkins Hoover; one daughter, Jena Jessica Hoover Barry (Bill); sister, Betty Boyd (Marion) of Winona; sister, Tracey Millsaps of Starkville.
The family wishes to express special thanks to his caregivers; Glenn, Mary, Cherry, Laura and his Home Health/Hospice team.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 3, in the Oliver Funeral Home chapel with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Oliver Funeral Home. Rev. Andy Coburn will officiate the service.

have such fond memories of friendship when Dwight Randall and Jerry worked at Staplcotn and living in Greenwood. So sorry for ya’ll’s loss of Jerry. Prayers for comfort and peace.
