Jimmy Palmertree, 66, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at his residence in Poplar Creek, the way he always said he wanted to go – peacefully in his boots. He was born at his family’s home in Poplar Creek on April 7, 1960, to Thomas Lee and Elaine Perry Palmertree, number 6 of 9. Jimmy worked in the logging industry for most of his life running a chainsaw and passed on his love and appreciation for hard work to his three kids. Tending to his many animals was one of his favorite hobbies and it was never a surprise to see him add another one to the bunch be it goats, cows, horses, mules, chickens, guineas, hogs, or even ferrets and peacocks. When not tending to the animals, you could find him fishing the creek or shopping for more antique farming equipment because “you could never have enough.” To know Jimmy was to know his family always came first, and while he loved his wife and kids, his grandkids were his pride and joy, especially the first “granny-baby”, Catherine Elaine. If you were to ever ask him what his perfect day would be, he’d tell you being at home on his farm (on the hill) with his wife and their dogs, tinkering or piddling on something out in the yard. The stories and memories of his pranks, lessons, and the many porch talks are just part of the great man Jimmy Palmertree will always be remembered as.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Palmertree; daughter, Ariel Smith (Malcolm) of Kilmichael; sons, Ronnie Bevis (Brittany) of Fulton and James Bevis (Samantha) of Fentress; sisters, Bennie Faye Bishop and Alice Vance; brother, Shorty Palmertree; twelve grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Catherine Hawkins; six siblings; and a special niece, Nancy Ann Palmertree.

The family would like to thank everyone for the many prayers and condolences during this difficult time, and while grieving his absence, they want to remind everyone to celebrate his new life with no pain or suffering!
