Joe Dodson Heath

Funeral services for Mr. Joe Dodson Heath of Vaiden will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden, MS. Rev. Dale Sorgen will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Billy Parman, Greyson Parman, DeWayne Purvis, Kevin Waller, Jason Bridges, and Henry Purvis.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mr. Joe Dodson Heath, 94, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at his home in Vaiden. He was born in Lena, MS to Barney Wiley and Annie Estella Hinds Heath on September 2, 1928. He owned and operated Heath Glass Company for 30 years and was a World War II Navy Veteran.

Mr. Heath is survived by his wife, Maurice Heath; daughters, Mandy Purvis (DeWayne) of Florence, and Pam Parman (Billy) of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Avery Parman, Greyson Parman, and Chaney Parman; one niece; and one nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Heath, Jr., and Andrew Shea Heath; and one brother, Jim Heath.

  1. We have so many sweet memories of Mr. Joe! He was such a sweet man and a hard worker! He stood by his word and always smiled. We have loved sharing a church pew with y’all for so long, we will miss Mr Joe! We love you Mrs. Sally!

  2. Joe also had a daughter, Sandra Heath Brown, of Alabama. Two grandaughters, Kimberley Aids and Shanna Coan both of Alabama and 5 great grandchildren: Chase, Kennedy and Carter Wayne Coan and AbbyGrace and Stella Claire.
