Joey Harmon

March 14, 1945 – June 13, 2023

Funeral services for Joey Harmon of Winona, formerly of Pontotoc, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at the Foundry Church in Winona, MS. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Rev. John Goldwater will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Ryan Watts, Bobby Watts, Connor Stevens, Grayson Marable, and Jon Duke Whitworth.

Joey Harmon, 78, passed away at his home in Winona on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He was born in Pontotoc to Carl and Gillie Hinton Harmon on March 14, 1945. He loved motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Patriot Guard. Working as a pilot, he was a retired crop-duster and former owner of Winona Flying Service. He and his wife served for several years as Camp Hosts for Hugh White State Park. He was a shriner and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of The Foundry Church in Winona.

He is survived by his wife, Valeria Duke Harmon of Winona; two daughters, Lori Dawn Harmon of Springville and Valeri Jo Watts of Pontotoc; three step-daughters, Penny Simpson of Memphis, TN, Dana Whitworth of Collierville, TN, and Wendy Marable of Saltillo; sister, Gillie Anne Doty of Tupelo; brother, James Howard Harmon of Pontotoc; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his five loyal companions, Bandit Boy, Smokey, Little Girl, Lulu, and Georgie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four of his former loyal companions, Daisy, Pebbles, Abby, and Murphy.

  1. I am so sorry to hear this. He was a good Bud and loved for people to ask him for help. He loved helping people and people knew not to ask him how something worked unless they had 30 minutes to listen. RIP.

  2. I’m sad to hear of your passing. When I meet someone, I can tell if they are good or not and I thought of you as the best person I know. I loved working with you as camphost at Hugh White State Park. I’m sorry I can’t make it to your funeral and I want you to know that you will be missed. Save me a camphost job up there in heaven.   4. So very sorry for your loss….He was one good fella for sure…..I heard my granddad ,HAMP GRIFFIN tell many stories` about Mr.Joey…..he was so good to everyone he came in contact with…..He will be missed for sure…

  5. I got to Joey back when we had the Junior Auxiliary Ball at the hangar. He was so generous helping wherever he could. Then we bonded over his love for his animals Joey, I know they are rejoicing to see you. Just talked with you in the grocery store. I’m so sorry you are not here. Love to your family!
