Joycelyn DeSalvo Yates, 78, entered her Heavenly resting place on Thursday April 13, 2023, at St Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson with her daughters by her side. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 20, 1944.
She is survived by one son, Charles E. Yates, Jr. (Stephanie) of Tuppers Plains, OH; two daughters, Janell Yates Boyette (Shane) of Carmack; Tisha Yates Garcia (David) of Vaiden; three sisters; two brothers; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin DeSalvo and Rita Barre; one brother; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Joyce was a God-fearing, loving, family-oriented woman. She spent much of her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happiest while sitting on her back porch with all her family around. She guided her family with kindness, many prayers, and lots of love and laughter. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ahava Ministries, P.O. Box 247, Winona, MS 38967. Ahava was very near and dear to her heart as she was committed to helping provide a better life to underprivileged children in Guatemala.
Sending love and prayers for peace and comfort from Brian & Suzanne Craig.

I am so sorry for the loss of Joyce. She was so sweet to me when I was teenager and baby sitter. She always gave me good advice. Even though I haven’t seen her her in years I still use her spaghetti recipe she taught me to make. Janell,Tisha and Charles y’all will miss her. But know this, we will all meet again. Im praying for your family now and in the days ahead❤️
