Funeral services for Mrs. Latha Jean Shackael Britt of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Winona. Rev. Randy Bridges and Rev. Tracy Putnam will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Craig Britt, Joseph Hunt, Jamie Whitmire, Joey Bennett, Albert Britt, and Benji Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Jefcoat and Ray Britt.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, from noon until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Britt, 86, died in a house fire at her residence on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She was born on September 13, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Paige and Melvin Montgomery Shackael. She was a retired factory worker and a member of North Winona Baptist Church in Winona. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her husband, James Archie Britt; and her son, James Archie “Tiny” Britt Jr.
Survivors include her son, Kenny Britt (Sandra) of Kilmichael; sisters, Edna Montague of Winona and Carolyn Jefcoat of Greenwood; brother, Buddy Shackael (Marcelene) of Winona; two grandchildren, Courtney Hunt (Joseph) of French Camp and Craig Britt (Nikki) of Kilmichael; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Mylie Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.
