
Mary Alice Barrentine, 90, of Kilmichael passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Clinton, MS on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was born on October 10, 1931 to Yancy Floyd and Mary Daves Richardson in Stewart, MS. Having grown up in Stewart, she married Lester Barrentine and raised her family in Kilmichael. She was a faithful member of Kilmichael Baptist Church. For almost six decades she was actively involved in WMU, VBS, and a host of other ministries serving both the KBC congregation and her community. She always had a smile and kind words for everyone she met.
Mrs. Barrentine is survived by a daughter, Malesta Purvis (Jeff) of Clinton, MS, and a son, Richard Barrentine of Kilmichael; three grandchildren, Nick Purvis (Katie) of Birmingham, AL, Joel Purvis of Louisville, KY, and Abby Barrentine of Kilmichael; and three nieces.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Barrentine; her brother, James Richardson; and her daughter-in-law, Brandi Burrell Barrentine.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Kilmichael Baptist Church, with burial following at Milligan Springs Cemetery in Stewart, MS. Pastor Jeff Jeffers will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Nick Purvis, Joel Purvis, Jimmy Chesteen, Jimmy Rivers, Larry Bamberg, and Ricky Bingham. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 9:30 am until service time.
