Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Stewart will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Winona. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Rev. B.T. Strum will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Winona.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Stewart, 85, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at her residence in Kosciusko, MS. She was born near French Camp to Louis Dewitt Gilbert Sr. and Mary Louise Foster Gilbert on October 24, 1940. She was a 1959 graduate of French Camp Academy. Mary was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She also enjoyed tending to her garden. She was a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Winona.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Stewart; daughters, Janie Palmertree (Glenn) of Kosciusko and Carol Ann Redditt (Tommy Sr.) of Millington, TN; sister, Sue Edwards of Eupora; brothers, Louis Dewitt Gilbert Jr. of Crystal Springs and Stanley Gilbert of Quitman, TX; eleven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Faye Wyatt.
