Mary Lillie Sykes Windham, 100, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026. She was born in Duck Hill on February 22, 1926 to Louin Henry and Mary Amanda Bailey Sykes. She was a retired salesperson of Sears who enjoyed painting, sewing, and gardening. She was an avid reader and loved karaoke. She received her master’s degree in psychology from Hayward in Berkely, CA at the age of 65 years old. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lukens (Michael) of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughter, Nicole Deasy (Jim) of Oceanside, CA; two great-grandchildren, Brenna Deasy of San Francisco, CA and Jordan Deasy of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Gaye Windham; and several siblings.
Funeral services for Mary Lillie Sykes Windham of Gulfport, formerly of Duck Hill, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 7 at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Keith Norris, Justin Timbs, Jason Timbs, James Gordon, Conner Timbs, and James Timbs.
Visitation will be Friday, August 7 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
The family would like to announce that lunch will be provided there, at the church, immediately following the services.
