Frances Corley Dowdy

August 10, 1941 – April 15, 2024

Funeral services for Frances Corley Dowdy, of Kilmichael, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Community Baptist Church near Kilmichael, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Jerry McNeer and Rev. Terry Corley will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Dowdy, Seth Womack, Blake Morrison, Dewayne Donahoo, Rickie Corley, and Steve Corley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home; and Thursday, April 18 from 12:00 until service time at Community Baptist Church near Kilmichael.

Frances Corley Dowdy, 82, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Merit Health in Jackson. She was born in Carroll County to Allen Ross and Mattie Melvina Thompson Corley on August 10, 1941. She was a graduate of Vaiden High School and remained close to many of her schoolmates throughout her life. She was a retired daycare worker and a member of Community Baptist Church near Kilmichael.

She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Pearson (Kevin) of Madison and Melissa Allen (James) of Forestburg, TX; son, Daniel Dowdy (Kim) of Winona; sister-in-law, JoAnn Donahoo; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Carl “Bubba” Dowdy; two brothers; two half-brothers; and a half-sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1876 Hwy 407, Kilmichael, MS 39747.
