
Melvin Clayton Hightower was born on March 15, 1955, in Carroll County. He was the son of the late Dennis and Gladys Hightower of Vaiden, MS.
Clayton went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Clayton found and married his soulmate at the young age of 19 and remained in love for 49 years. He and his wife owned and operated a local business in Vaiden for many years, where he made many lifelong friends. Clayton was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church. He loved his church and community and he prayed for each daily.
Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Hightower; his mother, Gladys Hightower; and brother, Andy Hightower.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Sue Hightower; two daughters, Cathy Cotts (Ray) of Yorkville, IL and Tina Crumley (Ricky) of Winona, MS; three grandchildren: Kathryn Neal, Lillie Hightower and Sadie Crumley; two brothers and three sisters.
Clayton touched the lives of so many in his short 68 years and will be forever missed, honored and respected by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Mike Gant will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Ricky Corley, Johnny Burrell, Michael McCoy, Bradley McCoy, Jim Simpson, and Riley Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Crumley and Roger Stuart.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Sue, we are so sorry to hear about Clayton. He was a good man and will be missed by so many friends and family. We are proud to have called him our friend. RIP Clayton! Love in Christ, Dennis and Deborah
