Norma Jean Adams Melton

Funeral services for Norma Jean Adams Melton of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Winona Garden of Memory. Pallbearers will be Andrew Black, Drew Hamilton, Tristen Adams, Jacob Adams, Reid Blaylock, and Rhett Blaylock.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, from noon until service time at the funeral home. 

Norma Jean Adams Melton, 93, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at her residence in Winona. She was born in Winona on December 18, 1930, to Marion and Alice Hawkins Adams. She was a member of North Winona Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Mrs. Melton is survived by her daughters, Linda Melton Carr of Florida and Carolyn Melton Hefner of North Carolina; son, Kenneth E. Melton, Jr. of Winona; brother, Dr. Bobby Adams of Meridian; six grandchildren, Allen Carr, David Carr, Leanne Carr, Trea Feltman, Kayla Hamilton and Jeremy Black; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Melton, Sr., daughter, Debra Melton Corley; and brothers, Lamar Adams, Marion Lee Adams and Wayne Adams.

  2. Loved my aunt Norma Jean! Tremendous person with a giant heart combined with the Adams spitfire. Her chicken n dumplings were the best. I’ll miss her.

  3. I loved her and would not take ANYTHING for our last little visit. All I ever knew her as to me was Grandma! She was so funny, a wonderful cook and homemaker, and she loved the Lord and her family fiercely. You all are in my prayers. I know you will miss her so much, but what a Christmas to get to see Granddaddy and Debra again! ❤️
