Sue Geotes, age 86, of Winona, MS went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Ola Sue was born on April 16, 1939, to Arnold and Inez May of Stewart, MS. Sue graduated from Kilmichael High School and moved to Jackson, MS to attend business college. Alongside her mother, she ran a home-based cake design business for over 20 years. In her 40’s, she returned to college and obtained a nursing degree, eventually retiring from Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Although her favorite job was being “Big” to her grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harry Geotes; son, Harry Geotes Jr. and brother, James May. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Drennan) Word of Lexington and Katlynn Geotes of Oxford, MS; three grandchildren, John Hudson, Chloe, and Sara Drennan Word, who were the light of her life.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Josh Robinson, John Hudson Word, and Drennan Word.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.
