Orman “Kelly” Rodgers, 78, of Winona, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at the VA in Kosciusko, MS, following an aggressive and debilitating battle with cancer.
Kelly was born on December 27, 1947, in Winona, Mississippi, the third of four children born to Kenneth and Ruth Rodgers. Kelly was a happy-go-lucky young man, and his family would lovingly say that he was spoiled by his mother.
After graduating from Winona High School, Kelly traveled to Nashville, TN, where he attended Diesel Auto College and completed his studies. He soon enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. Kelly was deployed to Vietnam from 1968 to 1971 and was awarded several medals during his military service.
After returning home, Kelly met and married Virginia Nolan. Together, they had one son, Chad.
Kelly spent much of his working life in jobs that kept him around trucks and people. He worked for Luvel Milk Company, where he became fondly known as “the milkman.” He later served as manager of the 35/55 Truck Stop in Vaiden, Mississippi. Kelly then worked as a shipping clerk at J.J. Ferguson until his retirement. Retirement, however, never quite suited Kelly. He continued working part-time as a lead driver for oversized loads, staying busy doing something he enjoyed.
Outside of work, Kelly loved spending time in his yard. He took great pride in growing beautiful flowers and caring for his home. During the summer months, he could often be found sporting a golden tan. Kelly also enjoyed dining out with family and friends and treasured the time spent around the table with those he loved.
Kelly will be remembered for his easy-going spirit, his love of family, & his love for sweet Lucky, his strong work ethic, and the many simple pleasures that made him happy. After a difficult year battling cancer, Kelly leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will remain with those who loved him.
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ruth Rodgers.
He is survived by his brothers, Roy Rodgers of Winona, MS and Doyle Rodgers of Holcomb, MS; his sister, Jane Pigg of Seguin, Texas; his son, Chad Rodgers; daughter-in-law, Kay Rodgers; and his grandchildren, Alexis Rodgers and Elton Rodgers, all of Winona, Mississippi.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.
