Robert “Baldy” Collins, 63, passed away at his home in Stewart on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born in Kilmichael on August 28, 1960, to Claude and Elizabeth “Betty” Plank Collins. He began his career in the petroleum business with Synergy in his hometown of Winona. After marriage, he moved to Stewart and continued to work for Synergy until he went to work for Scott Petroleum, Inc. out of the Eupora location. He served Eupora and the surrounding counties for over 30 years in many different capacities over his tenure, the majority of that time as lead service tech until being promoted to location manager in 2009 where he served until shortly before his illness forced him into retirement.

Upon moving to Stewart, he joined Tri-County Baptist church where he served faithfully as song leader and Men’s Prayer Breakfast Director. He poured everything he had within him into the body of believers he belonged to, such as, when he became a member of French Camp Baptist Church in French Camp where he dove straight in to help stand in any gaps that he could, such as song leader and cook for Men’s Prayer Breakfast.

To know Baldy, was to love him. He was someone who loved in many different ways, and was not afraid to show it. His humor and smile was contagious. He loved to have fun and laugh at anyone’s expense, even his own. If you were ever the victim of the “Baldy Collins treatment”, you were special to him. He always stood ready to serve his community in any way he could whether it be as a member and President of the Stewart Volunteer Fire Department or helping with any of the benefits that would be held in the Stewart Community. Baldy was fiercely devoted to his family and was the epitome of what it was to be a Godly husband and father. His greatest joys were spending time with his wife and seeing his grandchildren, who he adored.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Karen Crouch Collins of Stewart; two sons, Robert Craig Collins (Courtney) of Stewart and Clay Collins of Stewart; two grandchildren, James Wyatt Collins and Elsie Elaine Collins; sister, Debra “Janie” Logan of Winona; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hattie McCain; and two brothers, Johnny Collins and Claude L. Collins III.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to French Camp Baptist Church – Building Fund, 4155 MS Hwy 413, French Camp, MS 39745; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.stjude.org/donate; Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org; or to North Mississippi Medical Center – Hospice, 812 Garfield St, Tupelo, MS 38801.
