Bob Simmons

April 2, 1952 – July 15, 2022

A memorial service for Bob Simmons of Winona will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Rev. Jamie Bailey will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his many close friends from across the country.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 23 from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

Bob Simmons, 70, passed away at his home in Winona on Friday, July 15, 2022. He was born in Winona on April 2, 1952 to Harry Walker and Ruby Sledge Simmons. He was a retired jeweler and gemologist, having served both towns of Grenada and Winona. He enjoyed different activities such as cooking and scuba diving. He loved traveling and going on any adventure he could. He was a good friend who enjoyed hearing a good joke and telling one.

He is survived by his fiance’, Sandra Hardin of Winona; three sons, Robert Sledge Simmons, Jr. (Abby) of Kiln, MS, Stephen Walker Simmons (Lindsey) of Brandon, and Clay Hardin of Winona; daughter, Nikki Hardin of Columbus; and four grandchildren and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents.

For Bob’s final joke, memorial contributions can be made to the Psychic Electrician’s Foundation.

  5. I learned about Bob’s passing yesterday from my brother Robbie . I have no words to express what my 65 years of Bob’s friendship ment to me. May God welcome you into heaven with open arms and until we meet again on that golden shore RIP old friend.

  9. I am so sorry to hear this. I really thought so much of Bob , his mom and dad. It just tore my heart out to hear this . Bob just recently fixed some rings for me. My dad was related to Mrs. Simmons through the Sledge family. My prayers are with his sons and Sandra and the whole family. May God comfort each of you.

  15. Wow…I’ll so miss him even though I hadn’t seen him in years. I returned to live in Winona after 47 years living in Los Angeles and Baton Rouge….and am blessed that I’m here to be at his memorial service.
