Rogers Gerald Gregg

Mr. Rogers Gerald Gregg, 83, of Winona, MS, passed away in his home on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Gerald was born to the late Charlie Rogers and Nannie Jeanette Gregg on May 2, 1943, the youngest of 3 boys in Itta Bena, Mississippi. Gerald married Saundra “Sandie” Faye Barry on January 28, 1963. They spent 60 years together before her passing and were blessed with four children.

Gerald retired from a long career with AT&T, formerly known as Bell South. Following retirement, Gerald continued to keep busy by volunteering his services for groundskeeping and maintenance needs at Winona Christian School, his grandsons’ lawn and mechanic businesses, and was even known to make the occasional Santa appearance when the opportunity presented itself. Gerald was a member of North Winona Baptist Church and could also be found walking his dogs, swinging on the porch, cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events, or catching a power nap – as he knew the importance of proper rest.

Amidst his many ventures and duties, his most preferred position was as a devoted father and grandfather. Lovingly known as “Poppy” to his family, as well as countless others in the community, Gerald worked hard to provide for his family and was a guiding light who strived to lead in faith and teach them the practical lessons of life. Poppy will be remembered as unwavering in his values, yet gentle and soft-hearted.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sandie Gregg, his parents, Charlie Rogers and Nannie Jeanette Gregg, and brother, Wayne Gregg.

After his wife’s passing, Gerald found companionship with Kim Moniz, a kind soul that brought him much joy and reignited his sense of adventure. They were married among family on December 6, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Moniz Gregg of Winona; children, Amber Lindsey of Oklahoma, Barry Gregg (Meagan) of Kilmichael, Charee Woods (Michael) of Grenada, Donavan Gregg (Mary) of Biloxi; grandsons, Chase Williams and Coty Williams of Winona and granddaughter, Allison Ainsworth Palmertree; grandchildren, Phares Gregg, Marlee Wilkes, Gunner Wilkes, Livie Scott Gregg, Regan Woods, Carmen Coker, Laynee Liberto, Aubree Woods, Sophia Gregg, and Collin Gregg; greatgrandchildren, Gage Williams, Mary Presley Williams, Sulli Grace Williams, Taylor Williams, Sawyer Williams, and Eleanor Liberto; brother, Paul Gregg; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Oliver Funeral Home.

A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Corley officiating the service.
